Pumpkin galore, I had a great time, soo many pumpkins to choose from, I was excited, I wanted to take every single one of them home. We went to Cal Poly Pomona, their pumpkin festival was crazy, lets just say that next year mom and dad will be more prepared.

Happy to Be Me- A Ladybug

I’m a ladybug

nothing more

but I’m happy to be me,

so free,

with so much beauty to see…

I’m red with black spot

found in field,

meadow,

or flower pot…

on blade of grass,

tree limb

shrub or flower,

perhaps even on the Eiffel Tower!

hill or dell,

by a stream

in wood serene-

I’ve been to so many places

it’s hard to tell…

I’m very little

but please do not belittle,

just content to be a creature of this earth,

isn’t that a measure of worth?

Hanbok: (South Korea) is the traditional Korean dress. It is often characterized by vibrant colors and simple lines without pockets. Although the term literally means “Korean clothing”, hanbok today often refers specifically to hanbok of Joseon Dynasty and is worn as semi-formal or formal wear during traditional festivals and celebrations. Modern hanbok does not exactly follow the actual style as worn in Joseon dynasty since it went through some major changes during the 20th century for practical reasons.

Happy Birthday to me! Thanks mom and dad for giving me the best first birthday and thanks to everyone that came. Pictures of the party will be posted soon…I hope, gotta wait for daddy to edit. Mommy is crossing her fingers.

The day was perfect, the sun was out but there was a welcoming breeze and we loved it. Calvin had a great time watching the aerial sky divers come down from the sky. When you see him he loves looking at the sky to find planes and birds, its amazing how fast he sees things…we are all in aww of him. We love watching him grow.

What is Flugtag: Red Bull Flugtag challenges teams of everyday people to build homemade, human-powered flying machines and pilot them off a 30-foot high deck in hopes of achieving flight! Flugtag may mean “flying day” in German, but all these crafts ultimately splash into the waters below. They are judged not only on their flight’s distance, but creativity and showmanship as well.

Here is a picture we took with one of the competitors at the Red Bull Flugtag, in Long Beach, Calvin looks scared and now that I see the picture I would be too. ENJOY your day and try to keep cool

And I prefer the water! Mommy took me to my Aunt Belinda’s house for a swim, she was not sure how I would take the water but I took it pretty well. I love the water, I already paddle my feet, splash my arms and once in a while I”ll even put my head in the water. I still need practice with my head in the water part but I’m learning and I love it!! Michael Phelps watch out I’m coming for those medals.

That’s Grandma Jessie holding me and my cousin Bishop….what’s soo funny mom?!

We had a little family get together at my Grandpa Al and Grandma Jessie’s house. Their backyard is huge, gigantic, you can get lost….I’m serious. So I’m not sure what goes on during this time, I’m still a baby to understand, but apparently grown ups hide eggs in the backyard and the kids go find the eggs, the eggs are magical because they have chocolates or money inside them…wow what a treat! Well after the exciting egg hunt mommy put me down for a nap but I guess mother nature didn’t want me to nap so what did she do? She farted…she farted soo loud that the earth moved! LOL mother nature your silly.

Here is a photo of me with my beautiful cousins and my lovely Auntie Alice. Have a great day!

Today we celebrated Calvin’s 100 days with food, friends and family. In typical Korean culture, families celebrate their children’s 100 days to show the passing of a very difficult period where the mortality rate was high in olden Korean times. Good thing Calvin has been a feeding monger, growing at an extremely fast rate. If you haven’t seen him in over a month, you might not recognize him.

With friends and family gathered, we had a very relaxed afternoon grilling steak and chicken kabobs with the addition of Filipino foods. Methuse’s mom brought tons of desserts in her true fashion and we also had some Korean rice cake desserts as well. Although this didn’t go very well for those that were not Korean. LOL

Towards the late afternoon, 30 minutes before everyone started leaving, Methuse was able to put Calvin down to sleep but I hadn’t taken the opportunity to take photos of him with everybody. So I did a quick setup and got everyone ready. Calvin didn’t get much sleep and was a bit cranky but we had to wake him up for the photos. So if he looks a bit pissed, well he was. LOL

We all know that life doesn’t come with instructions. We also know that life is made up of all those little experiences we take part in everyday. It sure is about the journey and not the destination. However, learning from other people’s mistakes is where one can really save a lot of heartache if applied correctly. Methuse loves reading Calvin a book called “The little book of Life” that is a collection of stories written about life experiences from all sorts of people. There are some great stories in this book and you should check it out yourself. Read the one about “stuff”. Awesome stuff!

This week we got several gifts from a lot of caring folks. We tried to fit in as much as we could into the shot. We want to thank all of you for mailing us gifts for Calvin even though you guys have busy schedules. Thank you to Uncle Josh and Auntie Angela, Uncle Jeff and Auntie Jane and Chelly and her family. We love the dolls, blankets, toys, outfits, bibs, cards. Very much appreciated!
