Between the innocence of babyhood and the dignity of manhood we find a delightful creature called a boy. Boys come in assorted sizes, weights and colors, but all boys are the same. Boys are found everywhere … on top of, underneath, inside of, climbing on, swinging from, running around or jumping to.
Mothers love them, little girls hate them, older brothers and sisters tolerate them, adults ignore them and Heaven protects them.
A boy is Truth with dirt on its face, Beauty with a cut on its finger, Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair and the hope of the future with a frog in its pocket.
When you want him to make a good impression, his brain turns to jelly, or else he becomes a savage, sadistic jungle creature bent on destroying the world.
A boy is a composite … he has the appetite of a horse, the digestion of a sword swallower, the energy of an atom bomb, the curiosity of a cat, the lungs of a dictator, the shyness of a violet and when he makes something, he has five thumbs on each hand.
A boy is a magical creature … you can lock him out of your workshop, but you can’t lock him out of your heart. Might as well give up … he is your captor, your jailer, your boss and your master … a freckled face, pint size, cat chasing bundle of noise.
But when you come home at night with only the shattered pieces of your hopes and dreams, he can mend them like new with the two magic words, “HI, DAD!”

Here is a Calvin and Hobbes quote ENJOY your day!
“The more you think about things, the weirder they seem. Take milk for example. Why do we drink COW milk? Who was the guy who first looked at a cow and said. “I think I’ll drink whatever comes out of these things when I squeeze ‘em!”
- Calvin and Hobbes
So we have been giving Calvin 20ml of Enfamil every 2 hours with breastmilk which was recommended by the nurses. However, since yesterday, he has been cranky once he was done and he still looked hungry. So to test how much he could take, I bumped it up to 60ml and he freaking killed it. I mean, he was literally devouring it in less than 4 minutes but we knew he was tapping out at 60ml as some of the Enfamil was coming back up. He had 4 servings at 60ml and I must say, I enjoy it since he goes longer between feedings. He can sleep longer, so that we can sleep longer. This is a great strategy especially if you can feed around midnight as there is a possibility that he won’t wake up in the early morning for a feeding. The zombie hours. He is still touching his face before he hits the R.E.M. sleep. I guess this one is the Vogue. lol

Last night, Calvin woke up at 2am and 4am to feed and it really messed us up. We are already trying to recover from the lack of sleep we have been having the last few days. Then we had to wake up early for a doctor’s appointment which we were late to because it was our first time rushing out of the house and trying to get Calvin’s stuff together.
At Kaiser, they drew his blood to test his Jondis levels and then we spoke with the Pediatrician to get an idea of how he was developing. Healthy as can be and the best new yet was he no longer need to wear the Billi blanket, which is an indiglo light that went on his back to lower the yellow levels. He was originally suppose to wear it for a week but after one day with it, Calvin defeated the yellow-ness. Although, I say being yellow is in the heart… lol
When we got back, we fed him the usual 15ml but he was drinking it so fast, we upped it to 20ml. Then it was nap time. As they say, “When baby sleeps, you sleep”. Although it is hard for me to sleep during the day cause I have a million things to do, I was so beat, I just knocked out. Thanks to my wife, now I have this photo to make me laugh whenever I am in a bad mood! Like father, like son!

This boy loves to sleep! I know newborns are suppose to sleep but I think he loves it more than the average baby. One of my favorite moments is skin on skin bonding. The amazing nurses at Kaiser Fontana recommended it and I must admit, it is so calming having your own child fall asleep on your chest. The beat of my heart, the expanding of my lungs, well it puts him at ease and that puts me at ease. We must have napped for 3 hours. I wish I could sleep like that everyday… sigh LOL
